Folk knot cafe STIR sits just above the tourist information office across from Senzu Station in Kawanehon, offering an inviting spot to unwind amid travels or a quiet morning out. Its location, tucked on the second floor, gives it a tucked-away feel that contrasts with the bustle outside—a detail locals and visitors appreciate, especially on breezy days when even the street signage can’t stay put.

This cafe draws a steady mix of locals and travelers alike, including younger couples from Tokyo who’ve made this spot a part of their routine. The atmosphere here is relaxed and cozy, with plenty of greenery and varied seating arrangements that encourage lingering—whether catching up on wifi or simply enjoying a moment of calm.

Early risers will find Folk knot’s 10am opening convenient for a good morning coffee. The cold drip iced coffee stands out, so much so that visitors often come back for seconds within the same visit. For those who prefer something baked, the scones and other pastries have a thoughtful, homemade touch that pairs well with the carefully brewed teas and coffee.

What makes this cafe special is its connection to the local surroundings. The menu features dishes like deer roast sourced from local hunters, served with rich red wine sauce and hearty multigrain rice—a nod to regional ingredients and slower food traditions. While not a full restaurant, the food here offers enough to satisfy those wanting a light but meaningful meal alongside their drink. Seasonal cakes and desserts round out that homey feel, reinforcing the place as a pause point rather than a quick stop.

Folk knot cafe STIR fits naturally into the flow of a day exploring the Haibara area. It suits anyone looking to escape the tourist rush just outside or hoping to catch a quiet break with something thoughtfully prepared. The attentive service and subtle style make it easy to slip in for a stretch between train trips or a timely coffee break before setting off again.

Amazing food across from the Senzu Station. Young couples from Tokyo are running it.

A must stop for a cozy setting, lovely owner and delicious scone and tea. A lot of attention to detail. Made my day great while waiting for the bus.

Such a beautiful atmosphere! And the bakeries were delicious. I hadn't had a coffee (because it was too late for me) but it smelled tasty also. Best coffee I've been to while my japan-trip. Thank you so much!

Cute little cafe above the tourist information office opposite the Senzu train station. Opens at 10am, which is awesome for morning coffee. We had cold drip iced coffee and it was so good we had two! Friendly staff wifi and lots of plants and seating options make it a lovely spot to hang out.
